Friday Sketchers Sketch #58

I absolutely fell in love with this week's sketch at Friday Sketchers, so much so that I made three cards using the sketch. I used the same stamped sentiment on each card but used a wide variety of color combos.

For the first card that I made, I used patterned paper from the DCWV Pocket Full of Posies Stack. I embossed the background cardstock with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. To make the different papers stand out and pop, I inked the edges. To finish it off, I used Mulberry paper flowers fastened with some really neat brads. I wish I could remember where I got these brads because I sure would like to get more.

Then some orange Primas caught my eye and I decided to do the same card using bright colors. The paper for this card is also from the DCWV Pocket Full of Posies Stack. Once again I did some embossing with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and inked paper edges to help the different papers stand out. Then I added the Primas and brads.

Was I finished with this sketch? Oh, no! I then decided I wanted a distressed or vintage look. So I selected paper from a K & Company designer paper stack. I distressed the edges and inked with Tea Dye Distress Ink. Then I finished off with Primas in coordinating colors topped with a button.

My embroidery machine has been in the shop for its annual service. So I took a ride to Benton this morning to see my granddaughters and pick up my machine. I am always so lost without it...just knowing it's not here if I want to use it.
It is hotter than blue blazes here in Little Rock today. I haven't heard the official high for today but I know it topped 100 degrees. That's too hot!!!

ICSketches #22, Just Xmas & B'Day Sketch #37 & Friday Sketchers #57

I have made cards this week using sketches from three sketch challenges. For all three cards, I used cardstock, patterned paper from the DCWV All Dressed Up stack, flowers, and brads. Sentiments were done on the computer.

The first card used Inspirational Card Sketches sketch #22. As always, Dawn has another wonderful sketch this week. This color combo is a little outside of the box for me and I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

The second card used Just Christmas and Birthday Cards sketch #37. I love the black, red, and cream color combo.

I happened upon a new sketch challenge site (new for me) over the weekend, Friday Sketchers, and I decided to give their sketch a go. This card was done using sketch #57.

Embroidery Machine Projects

I have been working on some machine embroidery projects. I embroidered a shirt for Addie. Doing any kind of embroidery for her is such a challenge since she doesn't like anything that looks girly girly. So I wind up with designs more suited for a little boy and then try to work with girly colors to stitch out the design. I used a Designs by JuJu embroidery machine applique design for this shirt and used fabric scraps for the applique in pastels.

Several months ago my hubby bought a Honda Rebel motorcycle. He has been working on it to get it restored and street worthy. He found this embroidery machine design and asked me to put it on the back of one of his lightweight jackets. So today I worked on it (with him hovering over the embroidery machine the whole time).

I also have done a couple of tee shirts for myself but no pics of them.

Hope everyone has a great week.

BBTB Challenge and Contest

I have never tried doing one of the Bitten by the Bug challenges or contests. Usually they involve using a cartridge that I don't have for my Cricut. So this is a first for me.

For the current contest you must use at least one flower from any of the Cricut cartridges and base your project on a sketch provided by Shortcuts. Check it out here. Each participant is limited to two entries and I made two cards using the flower cut on the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for each card.

Here is my first card.

And my second card.

Guest Designers

Sarabeth and Addison spent the day with me and we had a mini scrapbooking crop this morning. Each completed two layouts and they did really good selecting paper and embellishments. I helped them use the Cricut and cut the paper for the mats for their photos. They did everything else. It was a really fun morning for us.

This is Addie.

And this is Sarabeth.

Here are Addie's layouts.

And here are Sarabeth's layouts.

I'm really proud of my two little ones. I think they did a remarkable job for their age.

ICSketch #20

Dawn at Inspirational Card Sketches has a really great sketch this week. Her sponsor for this week is Whimsie Doodles who is offering visitors to her site a really cute free digi stamp. So I popped on over and downloaded the stamp and used it on my card. I did have problems resizing the sentiment that goes with the stamp but I set it up on the computer using the Curlz font. This was a fun card to make.

I'm taking a vacation day today and my granddaughters are going to spend most of the day with me. We are going to scrapbook. Sarabeth is 5 1/2 and Addison will be 5 next month. It is going to be fun to see what these two little ones come up with. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post.

I'm Excited

I answered Susan's May-June sketch call on Card Sketch a Day and received sketch #$281 to use to make cards to be featured when the sketch was revealed. The sketch call is like a mini design team. Today is sketch #281 and my two cards are featured. You can check it out at here. These are the two cards that I submitted.

Hope everyone has a great week.

ICSketches #19

For this week's sketch at Inspirational Card Sketches, I used paper from a Provo Craft Bitty Scrap pad. I love this color combo. I added a piece of checked ribbon, some paper flowers fastened with brads and a K & Company sticker.
