Today's Card Sketch a Day

Inchie Art

A few days ago I received the latest issue of Card Maker Magazine in the mail and was totally intrigued by an article about inchie art. Odds and end of card stock and bits of paper are perfect for making the little one inch squares to embellish your paper crafts. The possibilities are endless.

For my first attempt at making and using inchies, I cut 1 inch squares from two different patterned papers. Then I cut 1 1/4 inch squares of light blue cardstock and 1 1/2 inch squares of a darker blue cardstock to mount the inchies on. I used design elements from two different cards featured in the magazine to come up with my card design.

Chanukah Card

Since we will need Chanukah cards in addition to Christmas cards, I decided to make one using this week's sketch at Just Christmas and Birthday Cards. For the image, I used a dreidel die cut . I also added some Star of David brads.

ICSketch #18

Dawn always comes up with such wonderful sketches each week at Inspirational Card Sketches and the design team did and awesome job this week with the sketch. I raided my scrap paper stash for my card this week looking for something really colorful to go with a new stamp that I got last Saturday at the LSS 50% off going out of business sale. I used colored pencils to color the image and added a scrap piece of ric rac, some flowers, self stick gems and inked the edges of the paper. Here is the final result.

I am so glad the work week is over. Why do short work weeks always seem to be so long? It seemed like this one would never end.

Happy Birthday, Robin

Today is my daughter Robin's birthday. Happy Birthday, dear sweet Robin.

She called me first thing Saturday morning to tell me that one of our two scrapbook stores was going out of business and everything in the store was 50% off starting Saturday. We made plans to meet there at 10:00 when the store opened. We were not the only ones who made those plans. There was a line waiting for the doors to open. Since I had planned to give her cash for her birthday, I went ahead and gave it to her and she used it to buy things she wanted.

I feel like I have been chained to the sewing machine the last few days. Orders for tote bags to be completed. slacks to shorten for my sister-in-law, etc. I still have an order for two more tote bags to make and shirts that I want to embroider for Addie and Sarabeth.

Rain, rain go away. It was raining when I got up early yesterday morning, rained non stop all day, and was still raining when I went to bed last night. And it is still raining this morning.

Weekly Card Challenges

I have finished cards for this week's sketch at Inspirational Card Sketches and also Just Christmas and Birthday Cards.


First, is the card I did using the IC Sketch #17. Once again, Dawn has come up with another great sketch. Don't you just love this sentiment...it's a stamp that I got from That's Jazzy Stamp Dreams.

Then I made a Christmas card using Just Christmas and Birthday Cards sketch #32.

I'm off work until Tuesday....Hooray! Just plan on piddling around the house and hope to get some machine embroidery and sewing done.

More Tote Bags

One of my friends at work ordered two tote bags from me. She asked for a large tote to give to her daughter-in-law to use as a diaper bag and a smaller one for her oldest granddaughter to use for gymnastics.

Here is the diaper bag tote which has a ladybug theme.

The ribbon is a pale yellow with ladybugs. I added a bow with a ladybug button to go with the ladybugs that I embroidered within the frame.





Here is Kayla's tote for gymnastics. For some reason, I couldn't get the colors in the embroidery to really show up good. Her leotard is pink and purple and the hair color is a cream yellow since Kayla is a cute little blonde. The lettering is embroidered using a neon pink thread.

I have been wanting the Cricut Essential Accents cartridge. However, this cartridge is not available for sale through retailers. It is part of the Cricut Expression package offered for sale on the TV informercial. But they can be found on ebay. So these two totes are going to pay for my ebay bid on the cartridge.
