Girly Girl Card

Our granddaughter Sarabeth is having her birthday party tomorrow.  She is going to be 7 years old!  Sarabeth is our girly girl and I wanted to make a card for her with glitter and sparkle.  The challenge this week at Delightful Challenges is to Glitter It Up so this fit right in with what I wanted to do for Sarabeth.  I used this week's sketch #128 at Friday Sketchers for the layout of the card.  The sparkley paper is from a DCWV All Dressed Up stack and I used the Hannah Montana cartridge to cut the guitar.

Cindy Loo Flourish

The challenge this week at Bitten By The Bug 2 is to use a flourish from the Cindy Loo cartridge.  The challenge called for the flourish on page 30; however, I love the flourish on page 40 and decided to use that one instead.  The paper came from my scrap paper stash and I used two different Cuttlebug embossing folders to emboss paper to give some dimension.  I added a Prima stack and the sentiment was cut using the Wild Card cartridge.  For the card design inspiration, I used a card  in the Papercrafts The Best of Card Creations that I just got this week.

Unscripted Sketches #77

Saturday's challenge at Unscripted Sketches was a piggyback challenge -- use the color pink as the main color on the card created using sketch #77 to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Here is my card which I will be sending to a cousin who is recovering from major surgery.

Unscripted Sketches also had a blog hop for Breast Cancer Awareness this weekend. There were lots of great projects created by the participants.

Red, Green and White Challenge

The current challenge at Delightful Challenges is a color challenge using the colors red, green and white. I don't normally use stickers but a couple of months ago I happened upon a sale at Michaels of a value pak of Jolee dimensional stickers.  The price was too good to pass up so I bought a pak for myself and one for my daughter.  There are some really great Christmas stickers in the pak and I decided to use a couple for this challenge.  This card was super quick and easy to make but I really like the way it turned out.

Saturday Projects

I started my Saturday off by doing the Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop.  Lots of great projects and some super blog candy up for grabs.  The hop lasts thru Monday so hop on over and check it out here.

When I finished the blog hop, I finally had my inspiration for the Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge.  This week's challenge is to use the pointed hand cut from the Graphically Speaking cartridge.  I don't have this cartridge so I used the pointed hand cut on Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge to make a Think Pink card.

Challenge #45 at Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make a Thanksgiving card using any cartridge and any colors.  I combined this challenge with sketch #76 at Unscripted Sketches.  I used the Create a Critter cartridge for the turkey.

This is my creative Saturday.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Cricut Cardz Challenge/Delightful Challenges

This past week is the first time that I have visited Cricut Cardz Challenge.  The weekly challenge is to make s-fold or z-fold card for Halloween using any cartridge and colors.  I have never tried making a card using one of these folds so I was definitely working outside my comfort zone when I started working on my card.  The weekly challenge at Delightful Challenges is a color challenge using purple, green, and black.  Since these colors lend themselves to Halloween I decided to combine the two challenges.

I don't have any Halloween paper so I used cardstock which has a very light texture to it from a Paper Studio paper pad.  I then embossed  using two different Cuttlebug embossing folders.  I used the Happy Haunting cartridge for the ghost, pumpkins and sentiment.

I am pleased with the way the card turned out so maybe I'll try some more folds like this.

BBTB2 & Papertake Weekly Challenge

The challenge this week at Bitten By The Bug 2 is to use the sewing machine on the Heritage cartridge.  I got excited about this challenge because I actually have this cartridge and could participate.  I love this sewing machine cut...it reminds me of my wonderful vintage Singer Featherweight sewing machine that I was lucky enough to buy at an auction last year. I combined this challenge with this week's sketch challenge at Papertake Weekly Challenge. It has taken me all week to get my card made but I finally have the finished product.

Unscripted Sketches #72

Here is the card that I made using this week's Unscripted Sketches sketch #72.  I wanted to use colors that reminded me of Autumn and I teamed paper from a K & Company paper pad with dark brown cardstock.  I used my Stretch Your Imagination cartridge to cut the leaves, then used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to give them some texture and inked the edges with Tea Dye distress ink.  Lastly, I added mulberry paper flowers fastened with bronze brads.  I am very pleased with the way the card turned out.

For this card, I used Friday Sketchers sketch #118.  It was a perfect design to use scrap papers from my scrap stash.  The sentiment was computer generated

BBTB2 and ICSketch

The challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug 2 was to use the cup on the Joys of the Season cartridge.  I had a hard time coming up with a way to use it; finally decided to use it as a small vase for a bouquet of flowers.  For the card design I used this week's Inspirational Card Sketch #79.

One of my friends at work has a birthday in just a few days and I plan to give this card to her.

White and Bright Challenge and Card Patterns Sketch 76

This week's challenge at Papertake Weekly Challenge is to have some white on the project and at least one lovely bright color. I used this color challenge to create a card using Card Patterns sketch 76.  The adorable mouse that I used can be found on the Cricut Create a Critter cartridge.  The felt flowers are Jolee dimentional stickers.

You need to check out this fabulous back to school blog hop going on this weekend.  There's lots of nice blog candy up for grabs.

Project of the Week

I'm so excited.......I got an email today telling me that my card had been picked as project of the week on the Bitten by the Bug 2 site.  Click on the blinkie and it will take you to the site.

We're sweltering in the heat here in Arkansas.  It's 8:00 at night and the temperature is still above 100.  Forecast for the next couple of days is for 105 or thereabouts.  Just way too hot.

Delightful Challenges

This week's challenge at Delightful Challenges is

Its So Simple~

No Designer Paper or Embellishments

Have you thought about making a card using only cardstock -- no designer paper, flowers, buttons, brads, ribbon, stickers, etc? It can be a challenge and really test our creativity.

I sat down with solid color cardstock, my Cricut, and my Cuttlebug and came up with this card.

The owl and frame were cut using the Cindy Loo cartridge and the "Hello" sentiment is on the Stamping cartridge. I used an embossing folder on the background paper. I'm pleased with the way it turned out and may just try some more "simple" cards.

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy

Kazan's Sketch #57

I didn't make the Friday deadline for entering a card in the challenge at 2 Sketches 4 You but I decided to go ahead an make a card using Kazan's sketch. I came across this one sheet of double sided paper while sorting some paper and thought it was so bright and happy. I used the Accents Essentials cartridge border cut and embossed it with Swiss Dots. The addition of flowers and self stick gems completed the card.

Two for One

The challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug 2 is to use the hinge cut on the Fabulous Finds cartridge. For my card design, I used Inspirational Card Sketches sketch #75. I decided not to use an image on the card, just let the focus be on the paper which is from a Me and My Big Ideas paper pad. I did use an embossing folder on some cardstock and the border cut from the Accents Essential cartridge in additional to the hinge cut.

Papertake In the Garden Challenge

The theme for the Papertake Weekly Challenge is IN THE GARDEN :-) so anything outdoors really ,,, flowers, birds, trees :-). I decided to use the bird cut on the Cricut Create a Critter cartridge for my garden theme. Isn't she just adorable? I lifted the basic card design and sentiment from a card in the July/August PaperCrafts magazine by Maren Benedict.

BBTB2, Card Patterns 73, & ICSketches 74

The Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge this week is to use the Storybook Owl cut. My daughter Robin just got this cartridge and she brought it to me to use when she came to visit today. I did a two for one and used today's Card Patterns Sketch 73 for the design of the card. The paper came from my scrap paper stash. I love the look of the stripes placed on the diagonal.

For this week's Inspirational Card Sketches sketch, I used a cut of the sun from the Create A Critter cartridge. The paper on this card also came from my scrap stash.

All Star Card

Our grandson Jesse will be 14 years old on Monday. Jesse is our baseball player, playing on a tournament team in the Spring and Summer. This Spring he tried out and made the Freshman Baseball team at his school. With this in mind, I wanted his card to have a baseball theme. So using Friday Sketchers sketch #110 as a basis for the card design, I cut a silhouette of a ball player at bat using the Cricut Baseball cartridge and mounted it with foam dots to give it some dimension. I also cut the phrase "All Star" and used Stickles on the star for some sparkle. Then added grosgrain ribbon and silver brads.

ICSketches #72 and Card Patterns Sketch #71

I used this week's sketch at Inspirational Card Sketches to make this card. I really like the layering effect of the sketch. The butterfly was cut using the Cricut Stamping cartridge and I used some distress ink on it and added pearls.

This next card was made using Card Patterns Sketch 71. I really liked the simplicity of the sketch and it was quick to put together.

Happy 4th of July. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.

ICSketch #71

I made this card the middle of the week but just haven't had a chance to take a picture and post it. As always, Dawn at Inspirational Card Sketches had another great sketch posted on Tuesday and I used it for this card.

I haven't made any cards this weekend. My Hubby has decided that we need to get back into selling on eBay which we haven't done in quite some time. He went to an estate auction on Thursday and came home with some very nice things including several lovely Fenton pieces. We have spent the entire weekend working up listings. He has turned my craft room into a photography studio to take the pictures and I have been writing listings and scheduling them. We listed 4 items this weekend and have another 12 listings scheduled to upload to eBay throughout the week. And he is not finished yet!!!! We are listing almost everything as Buy It Now rather than an auction due to the lower listing fees for 30 day Buy It Now listings. I was shocked that a Fenton vase we listed Saturday sold within 2 hours of listing it. We should be so lucky with all our listings.

I am going to head off to bed....I am rather brain dead after so much eBaying. I hope everyone has a great week.

Saturday Night Crop

I joined my daughter Robin and several of her friends Saturday evening for a scrapbook crop. I had an absolutely wonderful time visiting with these ladies. While there, I made three cards using sketch challenges.

This first card used Laura's sketch 54 at 2 Sketches 4 You. I used paper from a My Mind's Eye paper pad and cardstock. Also used some cuts from the Cricut Accent Essential cartridge. I always love a red and black color combo.

The second card was done using Card Patterns sketch 69. I used paper from a K & Company designer pad and also a K & Company butterfly sticker. The ladies last night said this was a very elegant card.

I used Unscripted Sketches sketch # 60 for the last card that I made. Paper is from My Mind's Eye paper pad.

Unscripted Sketches #59

While surfing for new (to me) blogs the other day, I found Unscripted Sketch It Saturday. The sketch posted last Saturday is really neat and I used it to make this card.

For some reason (probably due to my camera skills or lack thereof), the paper does not show up nearly as pretty as it actually is. But I am pleased with the way the card turned out.

I'll be visiting this blog again tomorrow for a new sketch.

While surfing blogs the other day, I came across a new, to me, weekly sketch blog called Card Patterns. I really liked the simplicity of this week's sketch and decided to use it to make a card. Here is my interpretation of the sketch.

Sketches are posted on Saturday and I will definitely be back to see the new sketch.

Card Challenges

No my friends, I did not drop off the face of the earth. I've just had a break from paper crafting, sewing, machine embroidery, and blogging. But the craft mojo is returning. I got a new Paper Craft magazine in the mail this past week and it worked wonders. This morning I got up, blogged for card challenges, and started making cards! Made two this morning then decided I really needed to make a run to Michaels. Came home and made two more cards. Here's the fruits of my labor today so it will be a long post.

Sketch Girl #19

The inspiration and sentiment for this card came from a card by Connie Vogt in the May 2010 CardMaker magazine. I incorporated her concept with the Sketch Girl sketch and I just love the way it turned out.

IC Sketches #69

I've always loved to use Dawn's sketches at Inspirational Card Sketches. I used her sketch this week to make this card.

Kazan's Sketch 54

I really like Kazan's sketch this week at 2 Sketches 4 You and I used it to make this Fathers Day Card which I will give to my hubby.

Bitten by the Bug 2

The challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug is to use the Sun cut from the Doodlecharms cartridge. Since I have the cartridge, I was able to take part. Here is what I came up with.

My next project will be to do a machine embroidery design on a shirt. I have lost weight and am having to build a new wardrobe.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

ICSketches #52

Dawn has another great sketch this week at Inspirational Card Sketches and I used it for the layout for our great nephew Jonah's birthday card. He is turning 5 this week. I used paper from my paper stash, added brads for embellishment, and did the sentiment on the computer. The cowboy was cut using the Cricut Paper Doll Dressup cartridge.

Hope everyone has a great week.

3 Product Challenge

I'm just a little late with this one but the January 22nd challenge at Challenge U 2 was to use cardstock, patterned paper, and buttons. Here is the card that I made.

I lifted the idea for the positioning of the paper from the Smooches card in the January/February Paper Crafts magazine using red and black cardstock and two different patterned papers from my paper stash. I did some zig zag stitching and added Primas and buttons.

Delightful Sketch #15

Today was my first time to visit Delightful Sketches and Challenges and I decided to play along using sketch #15 to make a card. The inspiration for the theme for the card came from the Hello Honey card in the January/February 2010 issue of Paper Crafts magazine. I used cardstock and the patterned paper came from a K & Company Carolyn Gavin designer paper pad. The cute bee was cut using the Cricut Paisley cartridge. The sentiment was done on the computer and I added self stick gems to the bee and a foam heart.

Judy
