Friday Evening

Why does it seem like the work week drags out forever but time just flies when you are off. It doesn't seem like it should be Friday evening...my vacation week has passed way too quickly.

I have made some cards getting my inspiration from projects shown in the Close to My Heart 2002-2003 Idea Book.

For this card I stamped the Close to My Heart large single rose several times on a mottled beige card stock and colored it. Then topped it with velum. The sentiment was done on the computer and printed on parchment paper. My challenge in doing this card was getting the edges of the parchment paper torn.

For these two cards, I stamped "thanks" randomly on a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock. Since there was enough of the stamped cardstock for two cards, I figured waste not, want not so I went ahead and made the second card. The first card has grosgrain ribbon and silk flowers. On the second card I used some felt flower embellishments that I got at Michaels.

Fun Friends

A few years ago my daughter Robin was a Close to My Heart consultant. At that time, I thought I would give scrapbooking a try but you know what they say about good intentions. I didn't start scrapping until a year ago. Anyway, I did come away from the good intentions with two Close to My Heart Idea Books. And I still have them! I sat down with them this week and went through each one page by page. Wow...they are packed full of wonderful ideas for making cards. You should see all the sticky notes protruding from the books to mark pages that have projects that appealed to me. That being said, this is a card that I made which is taken from a project in the 2003-2004 Idea Book.

The stamp, which I colored with Copics, is from the Close to My Heart Fun Friends Set. The paper is from my scrap stash (scraps are so great to use for cards). I did the sentiment on the computer and added brads and rick rack.

I got really hyped up about the Idea Books so yesterday checked out eBay for Close to My Heart products. I bought the Spring 2008 Idea Book and the Summer 2008 Idea Book. Can't wait to get them and see what wonderful projects they have to inspire me. I just love buying on eBay especially when I get a really good deal which I did on these Idea Books.

Judy

Best Friends

A few weeks ago I went through Robin's considerable stash of stamps and borrowed a few to use for a while. These two are from Close of My Heart's Best Friends collection. I have had them stamped and colored for a while trying to decide how to use them on cards.

I colored her with my Copics and mounted on paper from DCWV pad of paper Nan's Kids. Then stamped the swirls and added rick rack. Added a rhinestone brad to the flower. I'm not sure how pleased I am with the way it turned out.

I'm pleased with the way this card turned out. I colored her with my Copics and used a stamp that I got yesterday at the scrapbooking store in Searcy for the sentiment. Don't know where the background paper came from but the band at the bottom is also from a DCWV pad of paper.

Road Trip

My hubby had to do a posting at the courthouse in Batesville today (about 100 miles from us) and I decided that since I am on vacation this week I would ride along with him. I have never been there before. So we took off about mid morning and had a very pleasant drive there.

As we were pulling away from the courthouse, I looked down the street and lo and behold there was a huge sign a couple of blocks down that said "Fabric - Wholesale and Retail". So we went to investigate. Oh my gosh....it was like a huge warehouse just filled with fabric. And the prices -- wow they were great! We looked and looked and found a few things that we got. But I was very good -- only spent $25. But I know where to go now.

Before we left home, we did a yellow page internet search for scrapbooking stores in the area. There were only two listed which are in Searcy. Since we go through Searcy to get to Batesville, we stopped there on our way home. The first one was a fantastic store. I got some paper that was on sale and embellishments. Ronny got into it also and found me an adorable acrylic set of stamps of owls. The next store was so so...nothing to write home about. But I did find a few embellishments that I liked and a pad of black and white paper.

Oh yeah...we stopped at a really neat shop outside of Batesville that carries carnival glass and a lot of the depression glass and Fenton glassware. We browsed and looked at all the beautiful pieces. Some gorgeous stuff...including a blue carnival glass punch bowl set priced at $2,500!

Also made a stop at a fresh produce market..got some tasty locally grown strawberries and a few other items. We are going to have some good fresh produce with our supper in just a little bit. Had a late lunch so dinner will be late this evening.

Lesli's Sketch Challenge

I finished up my cards for Lesli's sketch challenge drawing early this morning when all the thunder and rumbling in the sky was keeping me awake. You can do up to five cards to be entered in the drawing.

Blue and Brown

I got a little caught up in a blue and brown color combination over the weekend when I made these two cards.

I used a stamp that I got at the LSS garage sale last week, did the sentiment on the computer, and mounted on basic card stock.

I just had to use my puppy dog again..I think he is so cute. Once again I used basic card stock, added a strip of grosgrain ribbon, and hand lettered thanks.

You need to check out Lesli's sketch contest. She is giving away a really cool Big Bite. You can submit up to five cards based on her sketch. I am working on cards this week for the contest...have two finished.

I am so excited...I now have internet access on the computer in my sewing/scrapbooking/craft room. Ronny and I actually got the wireless router up and running tonight so both of our computers can access the internet. My smart alec hubby says all I need is a port-a-potty, a coleman stove, and mini refrigerator and I would never leave the room.

Mud Puddles

I have been looking at these pics of Sarabeth when she was about 18 months old for more than a month trying to decide how to use them in a layout. Today I decided to just go for it. I used plain cardstock for my papers and did some rubber stamping. The title was done on the computer.

Happy Birthday Robin

Today is my daughter Robin's birthday. Won't you pop on over to her blog and wish her a happy birthday -- mylifeexpose.

Today is also the day that I draw for the winner of the Scrapbooking Diva tote that I made. Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments this month. There were well over 100 entries in the pot to draw from. And the winner is Carol --scrapmomof2 -- so Carol, please email me your address at designsbynanny@aol.com and your tote will be off in the mail to you.

Everyone enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend. I plan to check out sketches and get ideas for cards and layouts and then see how creative I can get.

Baby Shower Gift

Robin asked me to make a gift for her to take to a baby shower. The parents are expecting a little girl so I embroidered a fairy princess design by Designs by JuJu and added her name. I selected yellow gingham backed by a very soft flannel.

I also made this card to go with the gift.

Collecting Sea Shells

I found this stamp last Saturday at my LSS garage sale for $1.00. I do love a bargain! It is a Stamps Happen stamp titled Collecting Sea Shells. I think she is an absolutely adorable beach baby.

I used my Copics to color her. I mounted her on some cardstock that I also got at the garage sale and trimmed with scraps of lace and rick rack. Then added the flower brads.

Yipee....it's Friday and I'm off work all next week. Nine whole days that I don't have to get up and around until I want to!

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy

It's Wednesday aka Hump Day

Today, tomorrow and Friday -- then I am on vacation from work for a whole week. I can hardly wait. I have no plans for the week, just whatever the mood strikes!

Here is a card that I made using a stamp that I got at Hobby Lobby recently. Isn't he cute? I colored him with Copics, cut him out and inked the edges with brown ink, and then mounted on yellow cardstock. I stamped thinking of you on yellow cardstock and colored the border.

Time to go eat some cereal and then it's off to work. Everyone have a great day!

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy

My Daughter Robin

It is hard to believe, but in just one week my baby girl will be 38 years old. I keep asking myself where has the time gone. Robin is such a very special young woman and very dear to my heart.

Here is a layout that I did in honor of her upcoming birthday.

I must admit that I scraplifted the idea for the layout from one by Erikia Ghumm in the May/June 2008 issue of Scrapbooks etc.

Luck, love and laughter,
Judy

P.S. Don't forget the drawing for the Scrapbooking Diva tote bag will be on Robin's birthday, May 25. So keep your comments coming and I would love for you to sign my guestbook if you haven't already done so.

Scrapbooking Diva in Training

Sarabeth is spending the weekend with us while Joy and Danny enjoy an adults only outing with friends at Lake Ouachita. (This is not their weekend to have the boys). So Sarabeth and I have had a scrapbooking day.

We started the day off this morning with a trip to my LSS. There was a big "garage sale" there today...really neat idea. Some of their customers set up and sell their "stuff" that they don't use or no longer need....and sell it dirt cheap! Boy, did we have fun. Sarabeth helped me select rubber stamps and embellishments. Here's some pictures of what we got today.

After we got home and had lunch, we did a layout of Sarabeth with her GAM, aka Great Aunt Marilyn. Sarabeth helped me select the paper and embellishments to use.

I set up the small table and chair in "my room" for Sarabeth. She had bought some stickers at the LSS store this morning with her own money. I gave her paper, crayons, scissors and glue stick and she had a ball. She used her stickers and also did some stamping with my rubber stamps. Looks like we have a scrapbooking diva in training.

After a nap, we went to the neighborhood park to play for a while.

Today has been a wonderful Sarabeth and Nanny day. We still have one project to do -- embroidering her a new gymnastics shirt. But that will probably wait until tomorrow morning.

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy

Baby Gift

We have a new baby boy in our extended family and tonight I made a gift for him. I recently found a wonderful soft knit blanket at Stitchin Post that they are keeping in stock as a embroidery blank. I selected a cute bunny embroidery design and added his name.

Then I made the following card to enclose with the gift.

I'll get it wrapped tomorrow night and and ready to put in the mail Saturday.

Judy

Just a Quick Post

Just taking time for a quick post before I head off to work. This LO is of my oldest grandson, Matthew. He does not like to have his picture taken and I caught him unaware last month in his Bubbe's garage. He is 15 and it is so hard for me to believe that he is growing up. Where have the years gone?

Luck, love and laughter,

Here is a card that I made last night using Page Plans Sketch #4. Love the sketch, Lesli.

Joy and I had a wonderful lunch today. She gave me a set of 5 Victoria's Secret body lotions. Boy, am I going to smell good! She loved the scrapbook that I did for her of Sarabeth's soccer season.

Luck, love and laughter,
Judy

P.S. Don't forget to leave comments to be entered in the drawing for my Scrapbooking Diva tote bag. See earlier posts for details and picture.

Mothers Day Visit

Robin and Addison came to see me today. I got a wonderful Mothers Day gift from Robin, Bill, and Addison....this gorgeous picture of Addie along with four wallet size photos.

We're just a little prejudiced, but we think our Addie is gorgeous!

Robin also made a card for me.

Now that Robin has her Mothers Day gift from us, I can share with you. We gave her the pink Scrapbooking Diva tote bag that I made along with this card that I made for her.

Joy has to work so I won't see her today. But she is taking me to lunch tomorrow so that will be a real treat for me. I don't usually go out for lunch during the week. I live close enough to work to come home for lunch and usually eat whatever I can find. Sometimes it's just a PBJ.

Luck, love and laughter,
Judy

Chocolate Chip Cookies

"Listen honey--The dress is by Ralph Lauren --The body by chocolate chip!"

Do you love chocolate chip cookies as much as I do? I just couldn't resist this stamp when I found it at Hobby Lobby.

Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers out there in blog land.

Judy

Early Morning Project

As I was contemplating getting out of bed this morning, I remembered that I had a white tee shirt that I purchased recently. Why I bought a white tee shirt is beyond me because I'm not particulary fond of them. Anyway, the brilliant idea of using it for a Scrapbooking Diva tee shirt hit me. So I climbed out of bed and this is what I did.

So now I have a new tee shirt to wear today as I go about my Saturday errands.

If anyone would like a Scrapbooking Diva tee shirt, email me at designsbynanny@aol.com and we will discuss the particulars.

Have a great Saturday.

Thursday

I finished the Soccer album tonight that we are giving our daughter Joy for Mothers Day. The album is 20 pages so I have really worked to get it finished. Of course, it helped that I adhered to the K.I.S.S. principle. Here's another picture from the album. Every team member received a trophy after the last game and this is a picture of Sarabeth with her trophy.

I also made a card for Joy. I used Chris' card sketch posted May 3rd on Page Plans for my inspiration for the card.

Aren't the dragonflies cute. I found them Saturday at Dollar General. I love the sentiment that I used on the card -- "Sing out loud in the car even, or especially, if it embarrasses your children." -- Marilyn Penland. Joy is a Mom/Step Mom to two teenage boys and one preteen boy in addition to four year old Sarabeth. Needless to say, she spends a lot of time in the car chauffering boys around.

Now I just have to get Robin's finished.

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy

Stormy Night

We are having another rainy, stormy night. Hopefully, it won't get as bad as some of the weather we have had the past few weeks. Last Friday, there were several tornados in the state and 7 people were killed. I am ready for this bad weather cycle to end.

I have been working on the Soccer album tonight and got several more pages finished. I should be able to finish it in time to give it to Joy for Mother's Day.

Don't forget about my blog candy. Leave me a comment on each of my posts through May 24 and your name goes in the pot for each comment to win this Designs by Nanny tote bag that I made. The drawing will be May 25.

Also, mention my blog candy in your post with a link to my blog, leave me a comment that you have done so, and I will add your name to the pot for the mention.

Sarabeth's Soccer Games

Our 4 year old granddaughter played on her first soccer team this Spring. I decided to do an 8 x 8 scrapbook for our daughter Joy of pictures that I took at Sarabeth's games. I am using very simple page layouts without a lot of embellishment. (There is really not a lot of room to do much when you are using 8 x 8 page size). I started on it tonight and here are the first three pages of the album.

.

In the team photo, Sarabeth is the one with her arms up over her face. I couldn't get her to put her arms down. It's fun putting this album together. I know Joy and Sarabeth will both love it.

Don't forget to leave a comment to be eligible for my Scrapbooking Diva tote bag blog candy.

Luck, love and laughter,
Judy

Blog Candy

I've got some blog candy for you. Would you like to have this Designs by Nanny tote bag that I have just finished making?

Just leave a comment on my posts between now and Saturday, May 24. For each comment that you leave, I'll put your name in the pot and will draw a name to receive the tote bag on Sunday, May 25. This is my daughter Robin's birthday (robindiane). Since she is the one that got me hooked on scrapbooking and blogging, I thought it would be the perfect day to have the drawing.

I would also love for you to sign my guestbook at the bottom of the page.

Due to the shipping box size, I must limit this blog candy drawing to those with United States or Canadian mailing addresses. I love having international visitors to my blog. So please keep visiting and I hope you will sign my guestbook. I hope to have something smaller in the near future that you can participate in.

Luck, love and laughter,
Judy

Scrapbooking Diva

Instead of scrapbooking on National Scrapbooking Day Saturday I started work on these.

They are each ready to be lined and glitzed up with hot fix crystals in the center of the flowers.

Mother's Day Card

I have finished my first card using a sketch. I used My Paper World's sketch #9 for my inspiration for a Mother's Day Card for my mother-in-law. I chose to use a sentiment prepared on the computer rather than stamping on the card.

I would love for everyone to sign my guestbook at the bottom of the page.

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy
