Inspirational Card Sketch #10

For my card using this week's Inspirational Card Sketch #10, I used textured cardstock and K & Company Urban Rhapsody designer paper. I embellished with a K & Company butterfly, Primas, and a self-stick gem. The color combo that I used is quite a departure from the norm for me but I rather like it.

Congratulations to my blogging friend Glee. She won the drawing for a great prize offered by last week's sponsor at IC Sketches. You need to check out this week's sponsor....there is an awesome package of goodies for card makers for this weeks drawing winner from the Dancing Garden Etsy Shop.

Friday Friends Challenge

Here is the card that I made for Friday Friends Challenge at Card Sketch a Day. Today's sketch is #208. I used scrap paper, Bazzil paper flowers, and self-stick gems. The sentiment was stamped using the Happy Birthday stamp that came with the Inkadinkadoo humorous birthday stamp set.

Patchwork

I was looking through some phrases for friends/friendship and found this wonderful sentiment. Using Card Sketch a Day sketch #207 as my inspiration, I rummaged through paper scraps (K & Company designer paper) and started cutting and placing for a patchwork look. After I had everything in place, I went to the sewing machine and did a zig zag stitch around each piece of paper. I printed the sentiment out on the computer and mounted it with foam blocks. Also added a K & Company dragonfly sticker. I just love the way the card turned out.
Yeah.....tomorrow is Friday!!!! And then it is the weekend.

Inspirational Card Sketch #9

Don't you just love it when everything falls into place so smoothly? I had already stamped and colored this image from my new Inkadinkado Humorous Birthday stamp set and selected the patterned papers that I wanted to use with it when I saw Dawn's sketch at Inspirational Card Sketches. Then it was just a matter of looking through my scrap paper pile for a couple of solid colors to go with the patterned paper, selecting some Primas and ribbon, carefully cutting out my stamped image with a Nestabilities, and using the Swiss Dots embossing folder and the Threading Water border punch. And here is the final result using the sketch.

Thanks Dawn, for another great sketch. And I am so excited, I won the stamp set last week!

I went to my Cricut class last night and it was well worth going to. It was conducted by a representative from Cricut and I learned so much about the features of my Cricut Expression that I had no idea how to utilize. I can't wait to have some time to put my new knowledge to use.

Judy

Humorous Birthday Card

When I saw this week's Page Plans card sketch, I knew it was the perfect sketch to use for the Inkadinkado Humorous Birthday stamp set that I got this past weekend. This is the card that I created using their card sketch #49 and one of the stamps in the set.

Thanks for stopping by.

One Sketch, Two Cards

I made two cards today using today's Card Sketch a Day sketch #203.

Card #1.

For this card, I used paper from a pad of textured cardstock. I cut some circles with Nestibilities and added two K & Company flower brads. The sentiment was done on the computer and I mounted it with foam squares for some dimension. I was going for a masculine card and I think these colors give it a masculine feel.

Card #2.

For this card, I used paper from a Paper Studio Basics Paper Pak. The sentiment was stamped using a Stampabilities stamp and mounted with 3D Zots. I added paper flowers with self-stick gems and foam hearts.

I have been wanting to take a class on using the Cricut ever since I got mine last year. I am so excited. I made a run to my LSS this afternoon and guess what! They are having a Cricut class Tuesday evening and still had some open spots. So I signed up for it. I hope that it is going to be $20 well spent.

Masculine Birthday Card

My brother-in-law has a birthday in just a few days and I have been agonizing over a design for a card for him -- I seem to have a very hard time with masculine cards. The light bulb went off this morning -- yesterday's sketch at Card Sketch a Day would be a perfect sketch to use for a simple, masculine looking card. I used textured cardstock in dark colors for the background and a light gray for the sentiment. The only embellishments were stamped (a big departure for me, I love using Primas and bling on my cards). The sentiment and inside verse were done on the computer. The end result is a very simple card but one that I think suits Earl to a "T".

Friendship

This is the card that I made this morning when I woke up really early and had time to spare before having to get ready for work. My inspiration for the card came from today's Card Sketch a Day sketch #201.

The paper is from a The Paper Studio Textured Cardstock paper pad. And this wonderful sentiment is a stamp that I got from That's Jazzy Stamp Dreams as well as the stamp that I used along the side of the card. I added a stack of embossed Primas topped with a button to finish off the card.

Inspirational Card Sketch #8

I found this week's Inspirational Card Sketch one of the most challenging sketches that I have attempted to use. I had a very difficult time with it....from deciding on how to build the sketch to deciding what paper to use.....it was a challenge for me from the word go. If weren't for the fabulous chance to win a stamp set from this week's sponsor, That's Jazzy Stamp Dreams, I probably would have given up on it. But I have some of Sheila's stamps and just love them so I just couldn't pass up an opportunity for a chance for more.

I wound up making a card to use as a gift tag. I used a 4 x 5 1/2 inch premade card and then cut two tags on the Cricut that would fit the width of the card and adhered those to the top of the card. Then I started layering the paper that I had finally decided to use. I added embossed Primas, self-stick gems, and a K & Company butterfly sticker. Oh, and I used a stamp from That's Jazzy Stamp Dreams on the tan paper and stacked one of the Prima's on top of it. When I get ready to use it as a tag, I'll add ribbon to the top of the tag.

For all the difficulty that I had, I am quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Mojo Monday Week 78

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I decided to make a card using shades of green using this week's Mojo Monday card sketch. If you check my last post, it looks like I have gotten hung up the last few days on using polka dots and gingham checks but I really like this combination.

You can check out the sketch here. If you have followed my blog at all, you will see that when using a sketch I don't deviate very much from the basic outline of the original sketch.

Sunday Cardmaking

I liked today's sketch at Card Sketch a Day so much that I created two cards using this sketch.

The paper for both cards came from a Basic Paper Pak to which I added solid color cardstock. And don't you just love this border punch that I found last weekend at Tuesday Morning?

The sentiment for this card was stamped using this wonderful stamp from That's Jazzy Stamp Dreams. I added a Prima stack topped with a button.

I used stamps from Hot Off the Press Mix Your Messages to stamp the sentiment on this card. I added Primas to a paper flower cut on the Cricut which I embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

Two for One

I started my Saturday morning off by making a card using today's Card Sketch a Day #195 and Tamara's recipe challenge #39. The recipe calls for a button trio, the color black, and a punched border. The black and white paper is from a DCWV paper pad to which I added solid color cardstock. A prima cut in half, red buttons, and hot fix crystals finished off the embellishments.

Another Card Sketch a Day

Folks, I think I am seriously hooked. I try to allow myself time in the morning before going to work to check out the day's sketch at Card Sketch a Day. Then if time allows I start trying to decide what paper to use to make the card and get it laid out in my mind. When I get home from work I can't wait until I actually start the cutting and assembling. That being said, here is the card that I made using today's sketch #194.

Card Sketch a Day #193

Susan has come up with another wonderful sketch today at Card Sketch a Day. I really love the simplicity of the design -- it's just right up my alley. I used paper from a K & Company Designer Paper Pak and one of Regina's printable stamps that I got at The Cutting Cafe'.

We are having some crazy weather here in Little Rock. The first of the week we had 80 degree highs and today it has been in the 30's with rain. The trees were all iced up this morning but started melting about mid afternoon. Forecast for tonight is mixture of rain, freezing rain and sleet. Go figure! I think I am going to curl up in bed tonight with a book and the electric mattress pad turned on.

Mojo Monday Week 77

I really like this week's Mojo Monday sketch. For my card, I used Amy Butler design paper from K & Company. I stacked Primas, fastened them with a rhinestone brad, and put a K & Company butterfly sticker on the petals. I just love this look. Then added some self-stick gems to finish it off.

Luck, love and laughter,
Judy

Inspirational Card Sketch #7

For this week's Inspirational Card Sketch, the paper came from a DCWV Nana's Kids paper pad. I used a stamp from my new Hot Off the Press Sweet Blossoms & Swirls stamp set and added some color with chalk and colored pencils. I mounted it with foam blocks so that it would have some dimension. Then I added some self-stick gems for just a touch of bling. All in all, I am pleased with the simplicity of the design.

This week's sponsor at ICS is The Cutting Cafe'. Regina is offering 3 sets of choice to the lucky winner of the drawing. Wow, what a deal! I hope I'll be lucky this week.

Card Sketch a Day #190

Here is a card using today's
Card Sketch a Day sketch #190.

Inside of card.

I got this wonderful Hot Off The Press set of acrylic stamps in the mail today. As you can see, I quickly made use of it on this card. I'm sure that this set will get used quite a bit just like my Hot Off The Press Whimisical Words and Doodles set.

Sunday Project

I got up in a very blah mood this morning. To try and combat the blahs, I decided that I should do something today that I have never done before. So I made an assortment of six cards to put together as a set and give as a gift.

The inside of each card is finished the same.

This was really quite easy --just took a little time to put them all together. I cut the papers to size for all the cards at one time, cut all the ovals on the Cricut, and then did the stamping. So everything was ready to go when I started assembling the cards.

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy

Inspirational Card Sketches #6

Dawn at Inspirational Card Sketches has come up with another great sketch this week. If you haven't checked out her blog, I urge you to do so. She has her very first sponsor this week and some lucky person could win a $15 gift certificate to The Mosy Scrapper Store. I kept my card simple this week; I plan to mail this card and didn't want too much bulk to deal with when mailing.

I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the card stock and the gorgeous patterned paper came from K & Company mat pads. The sentiment was stamped using a Stampabilities stamp and I distressed the edges and inked with Tattered Rose Distress Ink. A Prima and a small self-stick gem finished it off.

Luck, love and laughter,
Judy

Tamara's Sketch #85

I used paper from Cricut Celebrations and Cricut Rainbow pads to make this card using Tamara's Sketch #85 and added Primas, self-stick gems, ribbon, and a K & Company butterfly sticker. The sentiment was stamped with this wonderful stamp that I got free from Let's Get Jazzy. Sheila was giving it away to kick off her new blog.

Our back office Post Closing Clerk has a birthday next week and I think this will be the perfect card for her.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Big Brother

My granddaughter Sarabeth thinks her three big brothers "hung the moon". I just love this pic that I took of her with Jesse on Thanksgiving Day. How about her pink camo ball cap?

I used sketch #7 from 52 sketches 52 weeks for this layout. My recipe included paper from DCWV Nana's Kids paper stack, solid cardstock, lettering cut on my Cricut, Primas, brads, self-stick gems, Whimisical Words & Doodles stamp , Heidi Swapp Writers Block.

Here's a jumper that I made for Sarabeth.

She is growing up too fast it seems...5 years old now. So I am having to look for embroidery designs for her that are not quite so toddler looking. Since she is really a girly girl at heart I decided to use the purse, necklace, and hairbrush on this jumper and of course, added some bling with hot fix crystals.

Special Love

I have been looking for inspiration for a layout using a picture I took of Sarabeth with her Pawpaw on Thanksgiving Day. I decided to use Sketch #4 from 52 Sketches 52 Weeks and I am so pleased with the way it turned out.

The polka dot paper is from The Paper Studio and the solid colors are cardstock from my scrap pile. I stamped the curly-q's using a stamp from my Whimisical Words and Doodles set and used self-stick gems. The title was cut on my Cricut. To finish it off I added Prima's fastened with pink brads.

I'm waiting for the house to get warm. Our heat went out this morning...ugh! We were able to get heat and air people out to fix it -- the ignitor went bad. Of course, we paid a premium for service on the weekend but it was only $40 extra and well worth it.

We had a light dusting of snow last night but it is all gone today. It is suppose to be in the 70's later in the week. Go figure.

Luck, love and laughter,

Judy
